Virginia was probably the state that was most involved in the war. Virginia had the capital of the south, Richmond. Since the South was always on defense most of the war was in Virginia. Since Virginia was near the border of the north and south, this lead to more conflicts, and more involved than other states.

The battle, Fair Oaks(Seven Pines) takes place in Seven Pines, Virginia. The Confederacy was trying to protect Richmond. The Union was trying to capture Richmond because that would help win the Union the war. The winner of the battle was inconclusive. I would say this isn’t an important battle because there was no clear winner.
