And then by adapting to the drought they survived until 1978 and with their adaptations they were able to grow in population again

The rest of the other finches with their smaller beaks however died because without the thick beak, they couldn’t get the food that the rest could; meaning that the thicker-beaked finches were naturally selected and would then most likely begin to reproduce.
