We have been using Padlet for most of the school year in my class. We have used it to set goals for each quarter, brainstorming for writing prompts, and class discussions. When brainstorming students were able to see their classmates' ideas, which allowed them to broaden their own understanding of the topic. Some of the students I work closely with sometimes feel their answers are not correct and therefore don't often participate in class discussions. Using Padlet allows them to contribute their ideas anonymously, thus giving them each a voice in the class.

Padlet, also allows me to get a quick read on how well students understand a topic or lesson. Recently, we have been working on paraphrasing when note taking. I post a phrase and the students must rephrase that phrase in their own words using synonyms. It is interesting to see how they each can take one phrase and say it differently. It provides a different perspective for each of them, while also allowing me to see who understands the concept and who may need assistance.

Dianna Gamelin

I... LOVE... PADLET! I've been using it for about 3 years now. There are SO many ways to use Padlet in the classroom. I think my favorite is using it to build a bridge between school and home. Whether it is a Padlet for field trip reflections and photo displays, parent compliment boards (ex. "Wall of Love" during writer's celebrations), topic brainstorming, readers' response boards, or a digital art gallery with gallery descriptions, Padlet has endless possibilities. A couple of my favorite features are 1) You can create your own URL; 2) You can password protect the page! All this tech is great, but privacy can sometimes make parents a little unsettled so password protection is always a bonus, especially when it is a FREE feature!
Cara Pavek

The discussion was done on a Padlet wall where everyone could see all perspectives immediately.

Gina Hufty

Padlet allows students who do not normally share their thoughts in the classroom to become an active part of the classroom environment. The ability for the students to work anonymously is especially important in the middle school classroom, as the "cool factor" of answering questions in front of the class seems to diminish.

We use Padlet in the PE classroom when we finish a sports unit, asking students what they learned, in which area of the unit they liked the best, which skill did the struggle on. This helps us with student learning by seeing which skills need to be focused on more (many of the same skills are needed for multiple sports). Padlet gives student a voice by allowing them to speak through technology sharing their ideas.

I currently am using Padlet mainly for parent-teacher communication. I think it is a wonderful tool to share and collaborate with parents. We recently did an activity in class, and I took pictures of the students doing the activity and their finished product and created a padlet that I shared with parents. Parents can share and post ideas and feedback on the work. It fosters an excellent realm of communication and camaraderie. I love how it can keep various activities/events organized! :) Lacey Chimienti
