Write a 200 word review of your book considering elements like plot, how the characters are presented and the writing style. Remember to share your personal opinions and recommendations!

Perks of being a Wallflower is about a teenage kid experiencing high school and going through puberty. Charlie is the main character and the book is written in first person and he's an outcast to society except he meets Sam and Patrick, his best friends who are a bit older than him. They influence Charlie into other stuff that were not suitable for Charlie's age but Charlie stayed gullible and it managed to make him make more friends and get exposure to more people in high school. Charlie was a very down person mentally after he lost his late Aunt Helen. However, when he fell in love with Sam, a down to earth, understanding girl, his life slowly became better. Charlie was very empathetic and understanding, he wanted the best for everyone especially when it came to his brother, who was very athletic and dedicated towards football, quite the opposite of Charlie who loved books. Patrick was very shy because he was gay, he was scared to show that side of him, he had to pretend to be someone who he wasn't. Charlie's Aunt Helen was similar to Sam and reminded Charlie of her. Aunt Helen was very loving and understanding to Charlie who Charlie mentioned a lot, he was very big on the feeling of love and was so curious on how love is communicated and felt through others.

I know this is weird but the fact that I actually feel loved by you makes me feel a type of way. I haven’t felt loved since my late Aunt Helen. I know this is soon and you have a boyfriend AND you are like older than me but I love you. I know you see me as a little brother but these feelings that I’ve never felt before makes me feel so special when I see you. I’m being real here and I’m honest. I really do love you. I love being around you and Patrick, you will never understand this love. This isn’t a friendly love, it’s this real love that makes my heart pump and my blood rush when I look into your eyes and those cherry-stewed lips. Yeah this is getting weird, maybe this is too much but no I can’t help it. Yeah I’m not sorry. Well I better stop now. I’m sorry Sam.

Love always,

Charlie

Pick your favourite chapter or scene from the novel and write a 120 word summary of it.

Remember to:

use your own words

use discourse markers

use a variety of punctuation.

My favourite chapter from 'Perks of being a Wallflower' is in Chapter 2 where Charlie meets his 2 best friends, one of them his crush; Sam and Patrick. Although they have already met in Chapter 1, Chapter 2 was when Charlie was starting to get more comfortable with Sam and Patrick and discovered they had the same likings and hobbies such as music taste and watching football games, reminding Charlie of his brother. However, I especially loved the part where Sam told Charlie he loved her for the first time. It was very heartwarming and memorable for Charlie as he had not experienced the feeling of being loved for the first time in a while! Especially after his Aunt Helen passed away, who he loves so much. Therefore, so many things have happened in Chapter 2 which is what makes it such a good chapter, but what makes it so good is the relationships that built up in the process.

Ocean waves connote curliness or gargantuan which can suggest that Sam's dress puffed up and twisted as the wind blew against it.

The asyndetic listing used in, 'So, while they were talking, I suddenly remembered the news sports man and what I said about my brother. I got so excited,' increases the pace and creates a rushed and excited tone, further emphasising how excited and proud he is of his brother.

The smile and visual imagery, 'The sky was overcast with clouds, and the air felt like a warm bath' further describes that the weather was humid and dark but pleasant.
