The story “Chivalry” shows good morals and deeds. It's often seen as a code of conduct associated with knights and gentle behavior, especially towards women. The story inspires youngsters to behave the way the knight was behaving. And the old lady was a great example of conviction were things like staying young forever did not tempt her.

how can we relate the messages in the story to the people of the UAE?

The knight was a very gentle and humble man just like the local men most of them were raised to be humble, gentle with ladies and kids, polite, generous, and other manners. These manners are not only in locals but also muslims. The story shows how a real man should behave and treat women, or other people.

The story is all about showing respect, honor, and kindness toward people, and espically women.

And it shows how was Mrs. Whitaker satisfied with her uneventful life.

Islam is built upon Chivarly, that shows how a person should interact or communicate with others even if they had different beliefs, religions, or races.

The UAE has always motivates people to follow these good qualities. It makes sure to inspire the idea to all the levels of the community.

In the very beginning of the story i found it really boring, but after reading a couple of pages, it started to become much more fun and not as boring, i loved how she made the knight come to her 3 times, and help her around the house until she gave him what he wanted which was the holy grail. The knight is a very great example of chivalry, he was very polite, and kind with the old woman, even though she refused to give him the very valuable thing she had that he really wanted, which is the holy grail, if it were someone else he might’ve killed the woman or harm her to get what he wants. the knight resembles chivalry, just like the UAE men.

In the beginning of the story, it started off as extremely boring. It was describing the routine of Mrs. Whitaker of visiting the thrift store, meeting acquaintances, getting meat and repeat. The story started to take off and became more interesting when she mentioned that she may have found the holy grail. The story flourished as the Knight in shining armour with his majestic horse came to visit and ask for the holy grail. This highlighted the 'fantasy' genre. The chivalry presented by the Knight resembled the men of the UAE. My favourite foreshadow of this text is how the old lady is laid back and how she treats the Knight. Although he was rejected multiple times, travelled far and wide just to trade in the holy item for other rare items, really displayed his honor and respect. What I loved most is of how the old lady would use these magically extravagant items just for display next to her late husband and other old items she loved.

The story is all about showing honor and respect, specifically to elderly women.

I think the text’s overall theme is out of the ordinary as it described a strange interaction between an old lady and a Knight for the purpose of the Holy Grail exchange. Catchy parts of the text include the politeness of the knight since he’s requesting the return of the holy grail and the old woman’s calm and grounded reaction after interacting with the knight. The text was quite descriptive and entertaining. In addition, it perfectly fulfilled all the elements of a fantasy story.

After reading the text ‘Chivalry’, I found the text to have a strong meaning behind it. Since Mrs. Whitaker was old in age, the narrator ‘Neil Gaiman’ showed how she took every event she had in life with ease. I enjoyed the simplicity of the narrator in describing each occurrence the main character went through.

An example of that could be young children showing their respect to their grandparents by visiting them regularly and asking showing their respect to them.

We thought that this story was very interesting and unique in its own way. We admired how Neil Gaiman portrayed Mrs. Whitaker's character throughout the chaotic story, very likable personality and wittiness.

The way the author united both the present and the past in a humorous manner was well thought. The persona of the polite and well-mannered knight was something to appreciate in this generation which they lack. It was very captivating to read and learn about all the different ancient relics that was mentioned in the text.

How Mrs. Whitaker welcomed the knight into her house and served him tea and made sure he left with some food for the way, even considered his horse too is very similar to how UAE community interacts with guests and even strangers.

My impression of the story was that it was an overall immersing, interesting story, contrasting between modern times and ancient times. The story unfolded themes of past and present, magic, and quests, while utilizing tools such as juxtaposition to help prove his points. He highlighted the differences in the roles and responsibilities of people now and then, while also showing certain characteristics, such as chivalry,politeness, and hospitality.
