I thought that Padlet was good. I liked the collaborative element. Because of the constraints on my time this term, I only managed to use a few of the apps - Quizlet, Padlet with the students successfully (and unsuccessfully). I liked playing with VideoAnt but I have yet to use it with my students.

I have attached some Padlets I tried out with some students:

I really liked the idea of using technology to help students be more prepared for communicative activities in class where they can extend their understanding of what they have already explored. By designing accessible, interactive and (hopefully) interesting materials online to augment perhaps quite dry reading material, I hope that students can spend more time in class investigating, evaluating and framing their understanding through using the targeted language. It is certainly a strategy that I would like to explore further.

I have attached a VideoAnt of Prof Sugata Mitra's Ted Talk that I played with but never got round to using:

Google Docs / Microsoft equivalents.

It was interesting to see the Google Docs features. However, I noted the comment regarding the Chinese block on Google. (Most of my students are Chinese.) I asked around and I am going to try and explore some of the Microsoft equivalents. 'Sway' on Office 365 allows people more interaction which can be used to provide evidence for portfolio based assignments. (This model is being used for MScs in Medical Science at Newcastle). Students can be encouraged to avoid collusion and plagiarism by evidencing their work online as they go. For my future investigation, alongside much of the content of this course.

This is one that did not work too well. I was expecting more interaction from a class of 18 but it did not really take off. This was homework after a lesson on multiple intelligences. You can lead a horse to water....... I think that this was one of the first ones that I did so perhaps next time round I will start with the Weekend one.
