The rotting race is very exciting for us because we think it will be interesting to see how different items of food will decompose differently. As we learned at the Knott landfill food creates gasses as it decomposes. Even more fun!!!

How Does Composting Work?

Vegetables and Food scraps are put in a bin with worms and other bacteria that help add air and sugar that decompose the waste. Then after it decomposes you add some water and more air to turn it into soil. This is a very important step because food cannot decompose properly without air and water. Then this soil is used to grow plants that then, once they have been used, are put through the same process as before.

Well, i am going to talk about the food pyramid so first you do source reduction so like buy less food so it doesn't get in trouble wich is the landfill after feed hungry people, after feed animals, then use it to make electricity and oils, after composting put it in a composite bin and finally the least favorite is put the food in the landfill and that is the food pyramid.
