This teacher's questioning technique is effective to a certain extent only.

Strengths:
To check for understanding (with minimal feedback)

1. He scaffolds the pupils with relevant and sufficient information to aid them in reaching the objective he has in mind.

2. He paraphrases his questions to allow kids to understand better.- To achieve greater clarity

3. He infuses a little humour in his questioning. "Waahh, you've got very good memory ah.." It serves as a positive reinforcement.

Areas for improvement:
1. He could have given the kids more time to ponder over the questions.

2. He speaks a little too fast. He could have spoken a little slower. Not every child is able to register language quickly.

3. He could have chosen different kids to answer the questions instead of choosing same group of kids. For an instance, I would choose kids who raise their hands to answer. [even as they think aloud]

4. Questions should be asked in Standard Singapore English.

He reaffirmed the pupils answers encouragingly and paraphrased the pupils answers to ensure everyone understood clearly. Perhaps, he could slow down a little.
