This is the chain for the rhythm guitar that I played in the verses. With this one I was trying to get it to sound more like the original track rather than how I'd normally make guitars sound in my tracks. I was going for more of a rugged sound, sort of midways between a clean and an overdrive. It's purpose was to sound good with the palm-mutes in the verses, and then add a harsher almost percussive texture in the pre-choruses and choruses.

The chain is, noise gate, vintage vibe plug-in and compressor.

Next is the compressor to fix any dynamic issues, and then finally the multiband dynamics to stamp out an annoying high end frequency that would play during certain notes, but was necessary to get the tone right for the verses.

So I started with EQ to fine-tune the frequencies, boosting the lows a bit and slightly adding air to the cymbals. Then the reverb to make the drums sound less dry, followed by the compressor to squash out crazy dynamics, and then ableton's drum buss tool which I use to give the kick drum a bigger boom sound, tuned to the root note of the key of the song
