Students will be split into eight groups provided with an activity that highlights a correlation between literacy and crime. Each group will either read text selections about Wes Moore, articles one or two, factors that affect graduation rates, TCSS graduation rates, and states with the best and worst education rates. After each group has researched, read, and discussed key points in their text, each member of the group OR one designated person from the group will then post a discussion examining how their group's reading reflects the cause and effect between education and criminal convictions/incaraceration. After your group has finished posting to your column, please answer the question under the "Conclusion Board" column. Be sure to include your name or the name of your group members in the "topic" section of the post. Explain your answer in complete sentences providing your explanation and evidence from the text anaylzed in your group.
