She has Italian origins, because her grandparents emigrated from Italy to Canada. She decided to do an Erasmus in Italy to learn 
 Italian culture (for 6 months).
This was one of the most important experience I have had to communicate with different cultures. Thanks to her I learned:
- She is very respectful about people from different countries
- She helps us understand how to talk in a respectful way which is really important
- I understand that there are a lot of differences between Italy and Canada although both belong to Western culture.
During this six months, I had another chance to improve my communication with cultures, because some friends of Julia came to Italy and stayed at our house for a week. In this week I learned how important the native culture is in Canada and how important it is to respect the values against the colonization. Yorick, Kara and Boubacar explained to us their different origins, how different have different visions of colonization and how they choose to talk about that. Yorick, for example, is really sensitive about this argument and he explained to us that only black people can say the "N word". Instead Buba said to us that he was raised by a white family so he doesn't feel the same membership like Yorick does and, for him, that is really insane that only black people can talk about the colonization and white people don’t have the permission.
