Since getting my microwave kiln I have been doing so much research. I have discovered you can bisque fire in it. Since you don't have a temperature guage like a typical electric kiln, i discovered you can tell it's properly bisqued by the colour when opening it. Once it changes from orange to red it's ready.

I saved this for two reasons. One I want to try doing the u shape drying method to see if it helps with wedging. Also I've had issues with the plaster bats etc shifting around when wedging which is frustrating. I never though of clamping it to the bench or table. I reckon this will speed up my wedging. Until I set up my studio and and have a similar set up to taradale clubs wedging area. Made with cinder blocks and a concrete slab

In researching functional to non functional pottery I discovered Boroniec. His work both inspires me and is thought provoking. It defies gravity. I've attempted similar how ever with no idea how to make it I failed my first piece. Mainly because I didn't make the marquet to exploring how to do it. I stumbled across GREGG RASMUSSON on Instagram last year. His work is one of a kind. And I'm determined to use his work as inspiration. He is an artist open to sharing his tools and techniques. We have communicated many times online. He uses a dolan m30 mini carving tool. Which frustratingly isn't available in new Zealand. And whilst I can purchase from overseas, they're so popular they're often sold out even with the manufacture. Or the shipping is anything from $100-$500 dollars. In one of our conversations he offered to order me one and send it directly to me. which is amazing. I explained I'm a student and his work has inspired me to create my own version of this. He carves, bisque fires, uses white crackle glaze fired, inked, then finished with black grout. I've not found anything even remotely similar in my over two years of researching artists.

First saw Adam on the great potter thrown down. And have been following him for a long time. I'm fascinated by his use of the mini pottery wheel and microwave kiln, especially for raku firings.
