The hustle of getting into classes, being on top of my game, and working my hardest to get the best outcome of my time spent in the studios is perhaps one of my favorite pastimes. It is definitely helping me get use to what it's going to be like out in the real world when I get there; the amount of discipline I ask of myself now will eventually become second nature and I will be ready to take on the after-college setting. Dance is currently teaching me so many things about adult life now too; I think dance adds a discipline no other human in this world gets to comprehend. After I graduate from the University of Hartford, I would love to dance with a professional company (as of right now I have in mind Ballet Hispanico), but I mostly want to dedicate to choreographing and being a resident choreographer with professional companies, Like Justin Peck does with American Ballet Theater. Although, that is not my lifelong goal; in my far future, I wish to move back home to Mexico and start my own dance company. I do not wish to misunderstood here; Classical ballet will always hold a special place in my heart, and will always be the very basis of my dance training I know I will carry on with forever. There is, of course, nothing wrong with straying from your roots. I am now very influenced by the works of Ohad Naharin in the Batsheva Dance Company; his new and contradictory technique of Gaga have reminded me that no matter how much I train and how much I grow as a dancer, I am, always and foremost, Human. While my mom would take tennis lessons at the local country club, I would take intro to ballet with few other 6 year old little girls and two teachers. It was, initially, a way for someone to look after me while my mom played tennis, but it quickly escalated to being something I enjoyed doing.
