1. It's called"The Happylife Home". it suggest that George originally want this house to make their life happy and the fact that this house is fill with technology goods for example, the nursery room that will look after their children automatically so George and Lydia don't have to bother taking care of them and avoid all the negatives that comes with it such as spending time teaching them homework.

2. In page 13 George says "I thought we brought the house, so we wouldn't have to do anything?"  this mindset of giving the power of teaching their own children in conflict with the responsibility of give caring and guidance to their own child's a parent.

3. because they feel like they can't compete with the nursery room and fail as a parent. because the house has took all the work that they should be doing they start to feel like the house is becoming their children's parent more than their own self.

The film discusses the idea that being human is a social construct. In this film, all characters are robots, who become more human as they adopt more human-like qualities. There are four characters in the film: the main character who is a male robot and has already started his journey towards becoming human, his female love interest, a second male robot which acts as the main character’s companion, and a second female robot who accompanies the second male robot. All of these characters are robotic and mechanical, but their movements become more fluid as they go through very human experiences like falling in love and grieving the loss of a loved one. The film makes it clear that all the characters are robots through incorporating digital elements in their designs. For example, the robots have glowing eyes and digital displays at the back of their necks which showcase their progress towards becoming human. These digital elements start to fade as they adopt more human-like traits. This mimics how us humans also learn and adapt to society, being taught how to behave like a typical human by our elders in our childhood. Step 2:
The central theme of the film would be female empowerment, and we can explore how hegemony is shown through the characters in the film. We can also look at how the portrayal of Harley Quinn and other female characters counter hegemonic ideals. We are focusing on these ideas as female empowerment typically challenges a lot of societal norms, which relates back to the concept of hegemony. On top of that, the film is made through the perspective of the female gaze, which counters the sexualization of women in the media. Some secondary ideas that we can explore are the stereotypes that are debunked in the film, and othering.

Step 3:
Firstly, each group member has to watch the film so that they understand the characters' traits and personalities, the storyline of the film, and the issues that the film tackles. Each of us also needs to demonstrate a decent understanding of course material, such as course theory and the themes addressed in the film.

Step 4:
We think that hegemony will help us a lot in the analysis in the film, as well as the concept of the female gaze. We would like to argue that the film is counter-hegemonic in its approach. This will help us as it stays true to the intention of the film and ensures that our evaluation of it is fair and accurate. However, we think that by taking this approach, it limits us as we cannot state points that may undermine our overall argument. For instance, we have to steer clear of arguing that certain scenes are stereotypical and sexist against women, as it may make it harder for us to get out true point across.

Step 5:
Task #1: Watch the film 3 times
For the first viewing, we watched the film together on 29th of June. For the rest of the viewings, we will do it individually, by next Monday.

Task #2: Research
We will do research on the film, to be completed this weekend. This will be done through looking for academic and popular sources. Nicole will research on Harley Quinn and female empowerment, and analyse the film. Ashfa will be analysing the film, keeping an eye out for scenes related to the female gaze. Anthony will organise the presentation slides and  research on hegemony. James will be working on orientalism and othering.

Task #3: Powerpoint Slides
We will be setting up a powerpoint presentation. We have already started on it since last Thursday, and plan to finish working on the slides by Monday of week 12.

Task #4: Oral Presentation
We will start working on crafting lines to say during our presentation, and writing key points out on queue cards. We have already started doing this last Thursday, and plan to finish it by Wednesday of week 12.

Task #5: Practising Our Presentation
We will do this starting next week, practising small parts of our presentation as we work on it. We will meet twice a week, spending time working on our presentation skills and giving each other feedback.

Is Black Panther stereotypical?:
The movie Black Panther can be seen as stereotypical in some aspects. While it's  film for black representation in mainstream superhero movies, it contain some stereotypes about Africa and African culture. The movie portrays the fictional African nation of Wakanda as a technologically advanced society, however it still relies on some stereotypical tropes, such as depicting Africa as a place untouched by colonialism and overly traditional.

Black Panther, a movie that oppress women?:
Black Panther has a gender problem when it comes to its portrayal of women. While  characters like Okoye and Nakia is strong and skilled female , they are somewhat overshadowed by the male characters, particularly T'Challa and Killmonger. and the fact that Okoye is seen as the "queen" for T'Challa shows the concept of traditional masculinity and traditional feminism

 Black Panther, Africa in American point of view?:
Black Panther can be seen as a form of othering Africa from an American point of view. While the film focus on African culture and heritage, it is still created within the context of American filmmaking and in order to please American audience. This can lead to a simplified and exotic portrayal of Africa, reinforcing the image of an "other" or foreign place with its own set of exotic traditions and customs.

Black Panther, a shamming towards Africa?:
While the movie Black Panther has some false representation of Africa, presenting a fictional and utopian image that does not fully reflect the realities of Africa. However, it still gives a positive image to Africa and the black community, this movie gives effort to show the culture of Africa. and create opportunity for future movies that can better represent Africa.
