The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 meant that Chinese in America, most of whom were adult men, had little hope of reuniting with their families if they stayed in the U.S.; it also allowed the U.S. to deny the re-entry if a Chinese person already in the U.S. left the country; and it excluded the Chinese from getting U.S. citizenship. In the political cartoon the illustrator is against the act, it reads "No admittance to Chinamen" but it also says just about everyone is welcomed to America. The sign even allows one group of immigrants (Irish) yet it still excludes the Chinese. 1986-Immigration Reform and Control Act
This immigration act was signed into law by Ronald Reagan on November 6, 1986 it required employers to attest to their employees' immigration status and made it illegal to hire or recruit illegal immigrants knowingly etc. it was in opposition of the cartoon because it made it difficult for immigrants to thrive in America while the cartoon supports immigration and the inclusion of everyone.

1943-Magnuson Act/Chinese Exclusion Repeal Act
 The Chinese exclusion repeal act wassigned into law on December 17, 1943 in the U.S. It allowed Chinese immigration for the first time since the Chinese Exclusion Act signed in 1882, and allowed some Chinese immigrants already living in the U.S. to become citizens. This act is in support of this cartoon because it allowed all immigrants equal opportunity in the U.S.

The frontier theory didn't aid to the hostile treatment of immigrants as much as the industrial revolution did. The frontier theory established "liberty" by releasing Americans from European mindsets and old, no longer relevant customs. Allowing immigrants to move to the frontier and almost "start over" while the industrial rev. caused competition for jobs, dominance, and economic prosperity. This caused for white men to compete against immigrants for jobs leading to acts like the "Chinese exclusion act".
