Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married

"Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married", by Marian Keyes is a hilarious story of Lucy Sullivan whose life is full of unfortunate events, along with a dysfunctional family. This book is full of rom-com as we discover Lucy's romantic tale unraveling. Although the book has explicit language and some scenes, this only adds fuel to the never ending bicker of characters, troublesome self- discovery of ones's own character (in the story). Lucy Sullivan tries to find her own Romeo, only without a tragic ending. Enter the story of never ending laughs, complicated relationships, idiotic friends, the story that will make you laugh until you pee yourself... This is "Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married". This book is probably the best thing that I can relate too, minus the tragic relationships, but the humor for sure, it's full of ambiguity, so it can be related or interpreted in a different way- no right or wrong answer, it has a little bit of everything for everyone. I absolutely LOVE this story!

Love and Gelato

"Love and Gelato", by Jenna Evans Welsh, is a story about Lina and her jouney to self discovery, that will take all the way to Italy, a magical place where love and gelato is what you go for. All Lina has ever known was her best friend Addie and her mom Hadley Emerson, who is suffering from cancer and dying. Knowing that she could lose her mother any second, was terrible, and to add onto this mess, Lina learns about her FATHER! Hadley's dying wish was for Lina to go to Italy, to meet her father, who suddenly decided to pop into her life, after 16 years. Truth is, Lina doesn't want to go to Italy- where you go for gelato, and stay for the love. As Lina was staying with her best friend, Addie, she didn't want to leave her behind, but alas it was only for the summer, so why not? Reluctantly, Lina went to Italy. Her father welcomed her with open arms. Nervous for staying with a complete stranger, Lina felt out of place. To top it all off, Howard (her father), lived in a cemetery! Not only did he live there, he worked there as well. Howard was the caretaker of the graves from World War ll. The fact that she showed no resemblance to Howard was more than unsettling, but Lina brushed it off. Obviously, Lina made friends, very easily. She was presented, well more like ran into Renato Lanzarra, quite literally. Their friendship budded, and she was then actually presented to his friends, including the handsome, and dare I say, attractive, English model look alike, Thomas Heath. It's all fun and games until Lina finds out about the journal , where her mom kept everything, every last detail from when she came to Italy. Lina learns things she never would have thought of. Her mother's life truly seemed like a fairytale. Follow Lina in a journey to learning about her mother's past, that could help her in the future. Lina is on a ride to self-discovery, heartbreak, love, confusion, and whole lot of gelato! Will Lina go to extremes to learn just about everything she never had the bliss of knowing? Or will ignorance really be blissful? Will Lina get the closure and answers she deserves...
