Instead of letting them cause continuous stress, Shaun made a list and gave it to the landlord. I also see Shaun expressing his want for independence. His friend, Dr. Glassman, suggested that he get an aide to help with with daily living tasks so he doesn’t get so upset over things, such as loosing the screw driver. Yes, he does live on his own, but he still depended on others for daily tasks. He was able to use his independence to solve conflicts like getting off at the wrong bus stop and broken things around the apartment. Shaun still is working on the social language challenges he has, and I am hoping they improve as the season continues. He does such a great job using his past experiences, especially from childhood, to help cope with new situations that arise. I think what stuck at to me the most was how he became very upset when it was being discussed that someone be a "helper". He understands that he is capable of being on his own because that is how he grew up and he was determined to fix the problems so that someone did not continue to think he needed help. It was a great step to make a list of the landlord for repairs to show he could handle the situation on his own.
