What is the "Norm" or expectations of participation and guidelines for online participation by your students that you will set in your current classroom, or will set, as you become a teacher in the classroom?

If you are not going into the Education field, can you define ethical practice and character of an online community?

What actions do you take when posting pictures online that have other individuals in them? Do you ask for their permission first to post that picture and/or tag them without their permission? Do you ask for their permission on either posting or tagging, but not both?

When participating in new social media, app, or becoming a member of a website, do you check all the security features that it has to offer, or do you simply go with the recommended settings when first signing up? Do you allow the sites or apps access to the private information that it asks for (contacts, friends lists, photos, etc.)?

What is your general response when you hear that someone is in "trouble" for posting an inappropriate picture, had an inappropriate picture leaked, was tagged in a picture they didn't want to be tagged in, or made a comment online to a friend in private, but it got out to the general public?

What is your belief about information on the Internet? Do you feel that once someone has posted something online that it is "up for grabs" no matter the outcome or how they tried to keep it private? Do you feel that we are all entitled so some level of privacy and if that privacy is mishandled is that information now "fair game" to all who can view it?

I assume that postings are permissible; I keep a closed network online and don't tag people. I have often times shared pictures to social media of students for the intent of sharing images with parents and community.

I hate when my mother in law posts pictures of my kids on Facebook, but more because I feel like it invades my privacy just as much as it does my kids privacy, and I think she is taking liberties that aren't necessarily hers to take.

I think a lot about younger parents who post several pictures of their children on facebook. I would hate it if hundreds of baby pics of me (or me as a teen with zits and braces) were online. I'd be mortified!!!!

I check privacy setting obsessively. I don't trust a lot of social media. And even then, I'm sure there's quite a bit I still don't understand.

My friends and I seem to take pictures with the expectation that they will end up on Facebook, but I would never do that with someone else's kid.

If the technology allows, I would create a classroom based off of trust and open communication. That being said, I would make it known that it’s okay to be critical of other peoples’ works but its all in the way that it is done.

Start by explaining to them that their online participation is private or not private and explain who is able to see. Let them know I want place anything online without their approval. In situations where there is not much privacy educate them on potential consequences of their words.

I would hope to set a norm with the class, discuss issues of respect.

introducing students to the abilities of understanding the issues of privacy online, understanding the issues of critically engaging with each other and with the information they encounter. I would need to read the book to understand the moral and ethical issues that would need to be addressed, I guess

As I venture into educating my students to explore the world of art as a form of integrated technology .

As educators, especially those who know the functions of a digital world, it is our imperative to reinforce the pro's and con's of sharing information. I think the most effective way for students to understand is for them to process these "blind spots" themselves.
