Some parents may feel this way yes. But also parents can also see and talk to the school district about how they stop students from entering websites that can be dangerous for students. Many times students are able to take the technology home so parents will be able to see how the technology is set up to benefit the students. Also teachers work hard to make sure that whatever the student is working on is to help the student to learn.

I definitely think you will have parents at some point in your career who have some problem with teachnology being used in your class. Those problems can range from their childs security like you said, or them not liking technology in general. Fears of security I think could spur from their possible lack of knowlage regarding technology. As a teacher I think it would be your job to ease their fears by telling them how safe it is.

Though some parents may feel this way, reassuring them about the programs you are using through a news-letter or social media post could help them feel better about their child's cyber security. Make sure to keep parents well-informed on what their children are involved in. This is the best way to avoid many issues they may have.

I have a student who does not have a television at home. His family also doesn't have smartphones. I can tell this affects him inside the classroom because he is overstimulated by the use of his "own" laptop. He always wants to be on it and sometimes it's a hassle to get him off of it. His parents are worried that this exposure will be bad for him and are worried he will become addicted to it.
I also have a virtual student who zooms with me from his mother's phone because the camera on his laptop is covered with a bandaid because they were worried the school would try to access it to see inside his home. Did I mention he was a virtual student?
I was in shock when I heard this from his parents because they knew that once he enrolled in virtual school he would be required to zoom with me.
I only found out about the "security" issue when I asked him to zoom from his computer because I could help him with our GoogleDocs assignments by accessing the same Doc at the same time and modifying it together. He couldn't access the doc from his phone and his laptop was dead, so I told him to charge it and zoom from it tomorrow.

I am not at the stage where I have kids yet, but I know as a parent I would probably want to know what technology is being used and how it is being used for their learning in the classroom. I think it is totally reasonable for a parent to want to know because there are a lot of pros and cons when it comes to using technology in the classroom. I think their child's security is important and as a teacher, I would do everything to protect them. As a parent, I think they have to trust that, but I also think it is okay to check in just to know what is going on sometimes.

I think most parents will not show concern about their child's security. There may be some who have concerns, particularly older generations who may have custody of grandchildren. I feel most people are accustomed to our technology driven world and are aware that schools place so many blocks on the devices they loan to students. Students are smart and can figure out how to bypass somethings but many schools also have a means to know when this happens.

If there is a parent that has concerns I will explain to them that their child will be monitored at all times and explain to them that the bad websites are blocked so the children do not have access to it. However I will monitor that child more since I know their parents are worried to make sure they are not trying to go on any bad websites.
