Recruitment & Retention Challenges including geographic barriers and school turf issues

Structural & System Barriers including ambiguity around job expectations and duties, and consent systems that vary by district complicating access and delivery

Financial and Resource Clarity issues including lack of clarity on allowable expenses (e.g., supervision stipends, materials), and Insufficient guidance or templates for contracts with health partners

School District Collaboration needs to be strengthened, including the need for clear protocols on integrating MHCs with district systems, and guidance for defining the referral process, scope of services, and division of roles with existing school-based staff

Some of the school principals think of the role as dealing primarily with behavior versus mental health. Clearer definitions needed as to what is in scope for this role and what is needed to meet UCF certification

Build the data needs in from the beginning by working closely with the healthcare provider or entity providing the mental health position so challenges of electronic health records etc. can be problem-solved with the correct collaborative partners.

legislative updates on various bills that impact schools, that potentially can impact the work of CPS at schools. This can be by legislative advocates intentionally reporting out to CPS- maybe having a district leader on the CPS Advisory Committee to help us decipher how we integrate our supports into what the district has to report on as a legislative mandate.
