Everything I had ever been curious about or passionate about learning was embedded in the CYC program. It just felt like such a natural fit for me. Through all my placements, jobs, and volunteer experiences, I’ve grown to admire the work that CYC practitioners do and the meaningful, rewarding impact they have on young people’s lives. I’ve always wished I had someone like that when I was younger and going through hard times. I’ve had experiences with children’s lawyers and CAS, and those moments left a lasting impression on me. In many ways, I want to be that supportive presence I know I once needed, for the youth who feel unheard, overlooked, or alone. Being a CYC is deeply meaningful to me and I’m incredibly excited and grateful to carry this work forward in my future career and practice, and to be someone that truly makes a difference.

No matter which direction I take, I know my CYC background will always be at the core of my work. The values, perspectives, and hands-on skills I’ve gained through this program have shaped who I am as a practitioner and as a person. For now, my goal is to keep learning, growing, and gaining experience until I find the path that feels right for me.
