The Native Americans were moved to captivity zone near the east coast border. The trip was a very hard and cold trip since the hardest snowstorm hit. The journey was approximately 1,200 miles. The Native Americans had to walk the whole journey on foot! Another thing that I found out about trail of tears was that the Native Americans  were given a chance to be counted as an equal with the European white men, if they could assimilate into the European lifestyles. I also learned that out of the 200,000 Native Americans that were forced on this harsh journey 15,000 to 30,000 Native Americans died (including children), about 14 to 15 died at every stopping point. At the end of the trail of tears many people died and suffered but it's not only them that suffered it's also America that suffered
