TASK 1:

The charts illustrate the number of Japanese visitors travelling to foreign countries and the percentage these tourists visited Australia from 1985 to 1995.

Overall, it is noteworthy that the number of Japanese tourist travelling abroad witnessed an upward trend. Additionally, except for the years from 1989 to 1990 and 1994 to 1995, the proportion of visitor to Australia rose gradually.

Looking at the bar chart, the number of Japanese visit foreign countries stood at some 5 million in 1985. From 1985 to 1989, there was a steady growth in the figure for Japanese travelling abroad before decline slightly to just over 10 million in 1991. In the next five years, this figure increased slowly and reach the highest point at about 15 million in the end of the period shown.

Turning to the line graph, the proportion of Japanese traveling to Australia began at 2 percent. By 1989, there had been a marginal drop in the percentage of Japanese visiting Australia to just over 4 percent after increasing substantially. In the remaining period, the figure for Japanese visitors who traveled to Australia rose steadily and peaked at over 6 percent in 1994 before falling moderately.

TASK 2:

Nowadays, people tend to watch movies, TV shows or entertainment programs instead of educational programs, documentaries and news. There are some reasons why this is the case and some steps can be taken to improve this situation.
There are two main reasons why TV shows, soap operas or serials are more popular. Firstly, these shows can bring relaxation and entertainment to the viewers because their content is not dry or heavy. After a day of study and hard work, people will want to enjoy an entertainment program or a comedy that helps them relieve stress, but not educational programs that force them to use their brain. Moreover, documentaries or news are often quite dry and lack of gripping and difficult to attract viewers because they may feel sleepy while watching them. Even these shows require viewers to have some background knowledge to be able to follow otherwise they will feel confused and bored.

Some solutions can be taken to encourage people to watch more news, documentary films and education programs. Producers can gamify these shows to make them more engaging and interesting. Road to mount Olympia, for example, is an educational program organized in the form of a game that attracts a lot of love from people of all ages although it contains so much advanced knowledge in different fields. Furthermore, parents should make a habit of watching programs that widen their children's knowledge such as reality documentaries or educational programs for their children from an early age because parents' choice of TV also plays a very important role.

In conclusion, the relaxation and entertainment of tv shows or movies and the difficulty and boredom of educational programs, news or documentary films are the reasons while some steps such as changing the format and encouragement from parents can be taken to solve this issue.

Task 1:
The bar chart and line chart give information about how many Japanese people travel overseas and the percentage of Japanese tourists who visit Australia in 10 years.

Overall, the number of people in Japan who travel to other countries witnessed an upward trend except from the year 1991. The percentage of Japanese going to Australia also experienced a significant growth apart from the decline that happened between the years 1990 and 1991,1994 and 1995.

Looking more closely at the bar chart, we can see that around 5 million Japanese citizens traveled to different countries and this number continued to grow to just above 10 million in 1991. This number then slightly decreased to around 1 million before it reached a peak at around 15 million in 1995.

According to the line chart, 2 percent of Japanese toured Australia in 1995. This figure then steadily increased to approximately 5 percent in just 4 years, before falling slightly in 1990. However, the percentage of Japanese tourists who went to Australian shows gradually rose to just above 6 percent in 1994. Finally, the number dipped a bit to 6 percent in 1995.

TASK2
In recent years, TV programs have been expanded to a more diverse range. However, this development has led to a negative situation in which more people watch entertainment programs such as TV shows, and soap operas. There are two primary reasons behind this tendency and action could be taken to make educational TV programs more well-known.

There are two key drivers behind this strategy. Chief of these is that programs that served relaxation and entertainment purposes are more appealing. This is because, after a long working day, people would prefer entertainment programs to those related to information and data since they may help them to relax and charge people’s energy for the day after. For instance, people nowadays may enjoy watching K dramas, and reality game shows or listening to KPop music when they are off work. Added to this, educational tv programs may appear least interesting. Not only does watching this kind of show require specific knowledge, but it also may tend to have a boring format. Hence, the audience may not find this type of program captivating to watch.

However, TV programmers may change the format of these programs to more appealing ones to raise the popularity of educational programs. This is well illustrated by the example of the road to mount Olympia show. It is a show about a Knowledge contest on television for high school students produced by the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnam Television since 1999. Even though this show is still related to education, viewers are more engaged to watch since it has a more interesting way to perform the information and by making questions directly, people may feel more active when viewing the show which assists them to understand the information more thoroughly.

To conclude, entertainment TV programs have been popular recently but educational programs can become more popular by incorporating more innovation.

Task 1:
The number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad from 1985 to 1995 and Australia’s share of the Japanese tourist market between 1985 and 1994 are illustrated by two charts.

Overall, it is noteworthy that the number of Japanese tourists traveling abroad increased over the period despite a marginal decrease in 1991. Additionally, the proportion of people coming to Australia also rose up over the years with slight declines in 1989 and 1994.

Looking at the bar chart, the number of Japanese people traveling abroad was the smallest in 1985 with 5 million people, then the figure witnessed considerable growth in the next 5 years, before declining moderately to approximately 10.5 million people in 1991. Finally, the number had reached a peak at around 15 million people by 1995.

Turning to the line graph, in 1985, the percentage of Japanese tourists coming to Australia was the lowest with 2 percent. 4 years later, the figure experienced substantial rise to around 5 percent before falling to 4.2 percent in 1990. Finally, only in 1993 did the proportion of Japanese travelers coming to Australia hit the highest point at 6.2 percent, then it decreased slightly to 6 percent.

Task 2:

In recent days, there are many TV programs. More and more people tend to watch entertainment programs instead of watching educational programs, news or documentary films and as a consequence, it has a widespread and irreversible impact on knowledge acquisition skills. There are several reasons why this is the case, and there are some solutions that can be taken to mitigate these problems.

There are two main explanations for this situation. The first rationale is people view TV as a gadget of entertainment rather than infotainment. To be precise, most people watch TV in their free time, generally after a hectic study or work schedule, and they expect the box as a resource of relaxation programs to ease their minds. If they watch educational programs, they may be overloaded because their brain have to acquire knowledge after a day of hard-work. Another one is that educational programs are broadcasted in a way that people should have enough knowledge to understand it, and certainly not everyone has knowledge in that specialties. To be more specific, educational programs tend to be premiered as school lessons, making it devoid of viewer-teacher interaction. As a result, when viewer are not understand the knowledge, they do not have any people to ask and answer their questions.

Nevertheless, there are some ways that can be used to resolve these problems. The primary solution is that producers can gamify these shows to make it more interesting. A good example is Road to mount Olympia, which is an educational program organized in a form of game that attracts many love from watchers from all ages in Vietnam albeit it contains too much advanced knowledge in many aspects of life. Furthermore, parents can encourage and make a habit of watching programs for their children from an early age because parents’ choice in TV shows plays a crucial role in their children’s cognitive development. As a result, parents can be the people who can answer the question from their children. Not only do the children widen their knowledge, but parents can also know about new aspects in their life.

In conclusion, whilst considering as a way of entertainment and loss of interaction are the reasons why this is the case, gamification for shows and parent’s encouragement and making a habit of watching educational programs for their children are its solution.

Part 1

The bar chart illustrates the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad from 1985 to 1995 and the second chart shows Australia's share of the Japanese tourist market.

According to the bar chart, the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad was on upward trend in the period. Starting from 5 million in 1985, the number reached its peak in 1990, amounting to 11 million between 1985 to 1990. Then it dropped slightly in 1991 and increased to 15 million in 1995, up by 10 million compared to that in 1985.

Of all the Japanese tourists travelling abroad, 2% (100,000) chose Australia as a destination in 1985 and the number rose to around 5% (nearly 450,000) in 1988, before a drop to around 4% (nearly 400,000) in 1989. The number of Japanese tourists to Australia regained its upward trend and increased all the way up to 6% and above after 1993.

More and more Japanese tourists chose to travel abroad from 1985 to 1995 and the percentage going to Australia also increased despite the fluctuation in the late 80s.

Part 2

Nowadays, we cannot deny that many people are tend to choose entertained TV programs such as shows or sitcom, so that other informative or educational TV series which help peolple to equip knowledge are depreciated. There are many reasons for this phenomenon and several measures should be executed to improve the popularity of the TV programs on education.

The domination of entertainment-oriented preferences on TV could be expained by two main ways. Firstly, people consider TV as a way to relieve stress after a long day at work. Indeed, a TV show, for instance, in which has participation of celebrities or people with good sense of humor can relax viewer's brain as well as it attractive apparently and emotionally. Secondly, educational channels or documentary films, in contrast, which are design to mould your notions and opinions scientifically require certain pre-acquire backgrounds or skills from audience to be able to undrestand and absorb knowledge. Therefore ,human has tendency to be reluctant and uncomfortable with such academic programs, which may even include many technical jargons that they never been heard before.

Nevertheless, news, documentary films and other types of learning programs play a pivotal role in educating people, so that it is a need to make up them in a way that more attractive to larger publics. The solution is that these education programs should be transformed into less serious fomat in order to catch the interest of people. For example, recent contest so-called “ who is smarter than 5-grade pupils” has successed in conveying everyday life-science concepts via game shows fomat that is marvellously accepted and supported by the public. Another example that is many countries has embedded histories into film. Having done that, history become more relevant than ever and been known by many people around the world.

In conclusion, in order to grab people’s attention, the broadcasters should should buy more rights to educational programs.
