I feel that there are a lot of conflicting narratives floating around. From my perspective, all the way over her in SG, it is quite hard to be confident about what is REALLY happening. I think that more people should be comfortable with saying "I don't know". There is nothing wrong with not having a well-formed opinion because sometimes we just need more information before we can make an informed judgment. I also feel a bit like everyone in SG has decided to clam up about this topic, the understanding being that we should not open this can of worms!

It is a complex issue that requires context and an awareness of how the world works - politics, media etc - in order to fully understand everything. That understanding is needed before we can make a stand on it. while we can feel strongly for either side or about the issue, we need to remember the heart behind the concern and not act in a way that compromises the security and safety of those who live here.

It is upsetting, and it’s probably more scary that we can get slowly desensitised to the whole situation as it drags on.

It’s also very complicated to dissect the situation; even those who are specialists in the field have differing opinions, so to help students understand that there may be no neat way to understand or resolve the issue is very challenging.

Pretty ambivalent in that both sides appear to be aggressors and have committed grievous crimes against humanity. I think the best side to take is no side.

It is pretty concerning to see quite strong expressions of support from friends/ex-students on social media (eg. “hamas is not a terrorist group”). These posts are uploaded religiously and almost every hour for some individuals, who are Singaporeans.

I feel strongly Singaporeans should put racial and religious harmony in SG first. Yes, feel strongly about foreign conflicts by all means, but why let that destroy our relationships with fellow Singaporeans? Can agree to disagree? Like you don't reject a family member cos of conflicting politics, right?
