Learning the backstory- let's learn about several sacred mythical stories that pre-date Homer's work and serve as a backdrop to the narrative; they are religious stories that the original audiences would know by heart, and underpin the Homer's narrative songs. Remember: "The Judgement of Paris" was a story Homer's audiences already knew well, even though we only have small fragments of it and other myths left
