Population: 20–25,000 or 22–31,000

Habitat :arctic sea ice, water, islands, and continental coastlines.

Features :  stocky, with a long neck, relatively small head, short, rounded ears, and a short tail

Lifespan: up to 25 or 30 years in the wild.

Major threat:The loss of sea ice habitat from climate change is the biggest threat to the survival of polar bears


Positive steps:They keep biological populations in balance, a critical component to a functioning ecosystem.

Good news:Polar bears may be more resilient to climate change than we thought, but let's not misinterpret the research

Habitat:’ refers to the types of bushland that Koalas like to live in. They are found in a range of habitats, from coastal islands and tall eucalypt forests to low inland woodlands.

Features: Koalas are well-known for their large round head, big furry ears and big black nose. Their fur is usually grey-brown in colour with white fur on the chest, inner arms, ears and bottom. They have no fur on their nose or the palms of their paws
  
Lifespan: 13-18

Major threat:Think of some ideas which could help in reducing the amount of bushland which is cut down.
Since Europeans first settled in Australia in 1788, Australia’s eucalyptus forests have been vanishing at an alarming rate.

Positive steps: Koalas face many threats in an increasingly cleared, developed and fragmented landscape.

The biggest threat to koalas is habitat loss. Much of the koala’s habitat in Queensland overlaps with areas where significant clearing has occurred, and continues to occur, for urban, industrial and rural development
