A young boy living his best life. Grateful for all the blessing he has received. A simple boy named Jade Heinz B. Basanung. Residing in Poblacion Tabuelan, Cebu. 20 years old, turning 21 this March 01, 2024. I have two beautiful sister namely, Bea Jazmyn the eldest, and Shameena our youngest. I love to play basketball, I've experienced winning and losing. I've learned it the hard way. There are lot of things that I am proud of. But what I really want to share is, the lessons after losing a game. We cannot deny the fact that losing is hard to accept once you really did your part. You blame some of your team, even at the back of your mind, they did their part too. But you do not want to accept it.

Years of living of not wanting to accept failures lead me to not want to do something. I've missed a lot of opportunity because of it.

But as 2023 comes to an end. It just hit me hard that I cannot live this way. I need to stand up tall despite losing sometimes. I need to learn how to accept failures because that is life. I cannot always be on top. But that does not mean I cannot see beauty in losing. Losing can give me a lot of lessons, losing can make me strong.

And with this new mindset I am now slowly changing my ways. Ways that will lead to a right path, that no matter how hard I fall I will always find ways to stand tall.

What are some of the challenges I've faced in life

I've been having a hard time maintaining a healthy mental wellbeing. I am aware that it is normal to feel blues sometimes. But when you are in the verge of breaking down, everything doesn't make any sense anymore. You feel like you are not yourself, and your mind is destroying your wellbeing. Once I feel like I am in the verge of breaking down. I distance myself to my family and friends. I do not interact. I put my life on DND "do not disturb". Because I feel like a burden to them, I feel like asking for help is a form of weakness. And not everyone will understand what I am going through.

How have these challenges shaped me as a person?

Past might be bumpy, but it made me who I am today. I am proud of what I've become. I've become the best version of myself. I am now more mentally strong, despite there are still some breakdowns, which is normal to have it. But I now know how to control my emotions. I will not let my emotions take over me, that it is okay to ask for help, that even when they cannot understand me fully but the fact that someone is there for me is enough.

What are some of my future goals and aspirations?

When we talk about goals and aspirations. A common answer will always be "successful".

I want to be successful; life, love, happiness and career. It takes a lot of effort and patience to have it. But nothing is impossible for a dreamer.

What is my philosophy in life?

My life philosophy is to enjoy each moment while it lasts and to extend the same kindness to others. We all make poor mistakes, therefore we shouldn't hold others accountable for their choices. You should live your life as you see fit, as long as it brings you happiness and doesn't hurt anybody else. We must work hard to get happiness since that is the only thing we can hope for in this life. We ought to lend a hand to others when we can and, when necessary, accept defeat with grace.

Who are my biggest influences and aspirations?

My parents, heroes in my life.

I saw their sacrifices, working so hard for us to have a better life. I saw them struggling but I never saw them giving up. I am raised by a fighter.

Mom and Dad - I will always be grateful because not everyone was blessed to have the same parents as mine.
