I am a special education teacher in a district where the inclusive model is implemented in each school. I have a consistent schedule where I am expected in a classroom at a specific time. In the fifth grade math class I attend, we break down into small groups. My group is familiar with our daily routine. We start off with spiraling our math skills with daily sheets. These sheets consist of 5 problems with at least one word problem. As the students are working in pairs or independently, they are also receiving practice with multiplication speed drills on the IPAD. They practice each night with their facts and this technology piece provides me with an informal assessment as to where they are with their multiplication fluency. Once we orally review our daily math sheets, we move on to the math lesson for the day. Each student has a folder that consists of a variety of math tools. The students are allowed to use these tools as they feel necessary. I provide other manipulatives for students that require the visual and tactile styles of learning as needed. Homework is provided daily and is modified for several students.
