We’ll continue to be here for you, even after you leave, so you feel prepared and supported as you start this next chapter with your baby.

Leicester’s Neonatal HomeCare Team helps families get ready to take their baby home from the hospital. The team, led by Sister Claire Inglis, supports parents in caring for their baby by giving advice on feeding, routines, and bonding through 'kangaroo care.' They start planning for going home early on and offer lessons on important topics like baby safety and feeding. Their goal is to make sure families feel ready and supported when it’s time to leave the hospital.

We offer a range of food choices for patients and visitors. Our café and vending machines provide drinks, snacks, and light meals. The main restaurant serves hot meals, sandwiches, salads, and vegetarian options. If you have special dietary needs, like halal or gluten-free, we have meals to suit you. We aim to provide healthy, tasty options throughout the day to make sure you feel comfortable and well cared for during your stay.

The caring neonatal team at UHL looks after babies at both Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital. Leicester Royal Infirmary cares for the tiniest and most unwell babies, while Leicester General Hospital focuses on babies who are born from 32 weeks onwards. It's common for babies to be transferred between the two hospitals, so they can receive the best care for their needs as they grow and improve.
