Before Christianity, Martin Luther (a Catholic priest who disagreed with some of the church's beliefs), nailed a letter how the Catholic Church could improve upon what they already have. 
-One main reason that he nailed the 95 thesis to the church's door was because of indulgences. Indulgences are a fine that you pay to the church to "take away your sins." Martin Luther didn't agree that is because- some people need the money for surviving rather than "paying off their sins." Martin Luther believed that donating money to the poor was more effective than giving money to the church.
-This has affected my life, because without Martin Luther, the Catholic Church, the Christian Church, and possibly more churches could be using indulgences.
