Many people took a change during this hard hard time. Some connections that I can make to the books we read is that out of bounds connects to it. This was like the Apartheid for gender.     Some connections to the book (90 Miles to Havana) I am reading include the fact that both the main charter and the Afghan people are both refugees. Also Mrs.Loomis said that many families are separated in the journey. And in my book Julian (Main character ) is separated from hos family.  
    Some questions I have include what would happen if the US and other countries  closed there borders for the Afghan refugees.

I also learned about life for boys and girls after the fall of Kabul. The experience girls in Afghanistan are going through right now can be compared to the inequality the book Ties that Bind Ties that Break depicts with the tradition of feet binding. What the boys are going through connects to the book Boys Without Names where we see classism and how boys leave school to work and help their families. I wondered how the logistics of transporting all of the refugees, and how separated families were united. I could not imagine having to leave my house in a rush, and the despair. I remember when this happened on the news I saw the videos of people clinging to the landing gear of the planes that were taking off and the same people later falling from the sky. Ms. Loomis said that sometimes parents would throw their children so that they could make their way into the plane and America for a better future explaining why half of the refugees from Afghanistan are children. 
The Taliban ruled with fear and didn’t like the look of women studying and getting a higher education so when the Taliban took over which was almost instantly after the US most of the women left university and stopped working and with the impact of Covid all those women and men had to do distance learning and going back to their home country making it incredibly dangerous for them considering that the Taliban does not support women aspiring to be leaders one day to get an education. From the Taliban's perspective obviously letting women that are aspiring leaders, to leave the country is not good because it probably ensures a future of people trying to take down the Taliban.
There was also a priority list for afghans that had ties to the US to get into the cargo planes.
PROBING QUESTION: 
Were there any occasions where siblings got lost or separated and left behind on their own? And if so what are the humanitarians going to do about separated family members.

It is full of treetops and beautiful flowers, but it also has quicksand, which can pull you down, trap you, and make it hard for you to come out. Only with the help of others can you free yourself from quicksand, just like only with the help of other countries can the people of Afghanistan escape their country's hate. 13,000 people of all different cultures evacuated as one thanks to the US troops. They were not reparated by religion, but by gender; by community. The good samaritans who worked at the refugee camps to try and bring happiness and hope to these people came out of the experience with so much knowledge and empathy about the cultural diversity, but also the cultural struggles, faced. This was a traumatic experience for the refugees, as they had to leave their homes suddenly and without certainty that they would have a home, and I am bewildered and astonished by how the managed to keep up hope. Like Gopal in Boys Without Names, these refugees managed to believe in better lives, and in a greater future. The boys working all day long in the streets of Afghanistan, who are the ones less expected to have hope inside of them, still dream big. Like Gopal, who looked at the Nimba tree and willed himself to believe in a greater future, the refugee children, and the children stuck in Afghanistan look at their future and believe in success. They believe that it can happen. This is inspiring, and magical. And yet, speaking about all of the different cultures in the country, as it has been influenced by many other cultures and religions in the past hunderds of years, I come to wonder: What coming together or coming apart did the volunteers at the camps see amongst the different ethnicities at the camps? How did these people, so used to their lives being lived following certain rules and standards, repond to the change? I, having had the fortune of being born into a family that can provide me with food, a good education, presents, clothes, books, and much more, cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to have nothing. I cannot say that I know what these people are experiencing, because I never will. But I can say that I feel for them. I have learned that people are vulnerable, and they need support when their lives are changed. I now understand better the despair of the people living in Afghanistan, and of the ones who have found themselves in a new, scary country with different beliefs and rules. I can also understand their hope. Even though I am unsure of where I myself would find hope if faced with a situation such as the one of the people of Afghanistan, I am inspired by their will to keep on moving forward. They dream big, outside of the cage that they are in. And, to help fulfill their dreams, society can bring change. I always knew what was going on, but not in this deeper context. It led me to pursue the ideation that life is just a summer with many thunderstorms, the thunder representing the loss of lives, the loss of dignity, and the loss of hope. But despite the thunder and rain, you can still find the sun, the rainbow, and the peak of hope. You can still find it. It is not lost. It's not only this that is unfair, the Taliban being in Afghanistan, Kabul, has made life harder for everyone in general. Families struggle to pay for simple needs, they needed to flee Afghanistan to have some sense of security.

The Taliban literally took over the whole country and is now controlling it in a horrible way, primarily affecting women. They do not allow girls above 12 to leave home alone with no freedom to do anything. Also, when leaving the house, girls need to be covering their whole bodies from toe to head. If that is not enough, many public spaces were limited, closing schools, and stopping their education which eventually will not give them possibilities. 

   Even though boys suffer less they still are part of horrible conditions where they need to work so that food is provided for their families. Also, men who are scared or with no options, start taking part in the Taliban's beliefs which can eventually change their perspective of what the Taliban is doing.

  What I learned today also contains some connections with Boys without names for talking about child labor and how boys were forced to work. Even though they were actually forced to work in boys without names both suffer from child labor.

What I learned today, not only about the women but as well as the children, has truly shocked me and has made me disgusted to see that people still have such mindset in 2022. One of the things i strongly disagree is that woman don't show themselves in public. A connection that I made was to the book 90 miles to Havanna where the children had to escape Cuba and get received in camps in the USA. This is similar to what happened in Afghanistan because the people are escaping to go to the military bases in the US. Also, the reason why they left is similar because in 90 miles to Havana Fidel Castro was taking power as a dictator while the Taliban are taking power as dictators. Some questions that came to my mind are why the Taliban is going against women specifically. I think that the Taliban isn't trying to remove women from society because they are sexist but more because they want to weaken the country so it is easier for them to take over more and achieve a bigger goal. Also, another question that came to my mind is why the Afghanistan people just gave up as soon as the Taliban arrived because like in Ukraine the people resisted a lot more than the people in Afghanistan did. Another question that came to mind was how the Taliban took over Afghanistan because this is different from the Russia Ukraine war where Russia is already a powerful nation. Were the Taliban already a powerful secret organization like Russia? Did no one know about it before? One way that I built greater empathy for the evacuees from Afghanistan was that now I understand why they are suffering so much because not only are the women suffering but the men are also suffering because the economy is probably a lot worse so it could be harder to find jobs. Also now many kids have to work because their mothers can't work. This shows how that something that the terrorists did to target one group of people ended up harming the whole country. When we go by car and travel around our city will see a bunch of kids, adults, and the eldest, begging for food money, trying to sell candy to us for at least enough to survive. And we may not think much about it because we don't know what they live, their suffering, we don't feel what their feeling, we just know what we live. Just like the people from Afghanistan. They were living in an almost perfect world being happy, until the Taliban came, they oppressed all women. In my opinion, they are just doing that because they don't have an idea of suffering, and poverty. Just like everyone they just wanted more and power, and riches, and after a while this power might get on their head, and they will just want more and more power even though to get this power they might to oppress evary one, and for them that might be something good because they are not being oppressed. After seeing that video i could see that no woman were on the street, they didn't had any right to freedom, to express their self, imagene with you couldn't have enough freedom made for go in places made for people, have rights to learn what they want, follow their dreams, hopes, to were what they need they want, to express their feelings. Also on there video  the boys had to work instead of going to school and getting a future, they had to do jobs that not even adults would do. With urgency they went to a crowded plain without any hopes to a whole new place where they don't know their language traditions. To start a whole new beginning. Just like our book club book 90 miles to Havana that our main character Julian, because of his government and the revolution, also found shelter in the USA, and it was a really tough journey to him there because the US was a totally new place for him. With that in mind, I fell worst for all refuges that had passed to so many traumatizing experiences, having to live their homes to a whole new country, being treated as enemies, for all of those who were killed or heart by the taliban, because now I at least know what is happening outside my really small bubble that i live on, and I hope for the best and at the near future will have an equal society.

In the middle of the pandemic, people stared to get dismissed from there jobs ( mostly women) many people needed that job in order to get enough money to feed their family. So they had to work for extra hours in order to get the same money as men. Not only in the pandemic but overall, everyone needs to be treated respectfully, with the same rights and not depending on the gender. I learned about the current situation of Afghanistan and how it's economy is very unbalanced because of the leaving of women. The life for children in Afghanistan is a disgrace with them having to work all day instead of going to school. Most of the evacuators from Afghanistan are children  Changing countries is a culture shock. At least the children won't need to experience the trauma from Afghanistan. The people would come to the camp in Wyoming with only their backpacks! Imagine all the memories they would have in Afghanistan and leave with only a backpack! Also no pets in the camp which would be devastaiting. Lots of people from the camp are working on making schools for children and adults because certain adults don't know how to be respectful to other religions and to the other gender. In Afghanistan kids 12 years old already have their future decided.
