He was born April 2, 1939. Marvin Gaye found peace through music by playing the piano and drums. Then in the 1950's he joined a group called The New Moonglows. His First hit wouldn't come until 1962. In 1970, during the Vietnam War, he was inspired to write a song due to the rising violence and political unrest. This song was caused some conflict between Mowtown and Gaye due to it's creativity, but was released anyways 1971. This song being "What's Going On". This song became an instant hit and Gaye made a whole political album called What's Going On and still kept his Motown following. The album won Rolling Stone Album of The Year and Gaye later parted from Motown and continued his career as a singer.

This song addresses a political/social issue during the time period. It's addressing a political/social issue because he speaks of the troubles going on in families with mothers crying over the death of their sons and fathers encouraging the government to continue on in the war even though the U.S isn't really progressing in the war. He also speaks on the protesters during this time and how they shouldn't be attacked by the government when all they are looking for is peace and love between Vietnam and the U.S.

Flexicution by Logic

There are major differences between both songs. You have Marvin Gaye singing about the struggles of the Vietnam war, all the emotions going through peoples heads and the many things that happened to many of the U.S people during this time period. Then in our modern day, we have songs like Flexicution and Logic talks about his rise to fame and how he now is one of the best in the rap game. Now that he is in the rap game he is thankful for that. There isn't much to it. The meaning of flexicution is someone who brags, but not really gloating in repetition.
