I’m Sarah Spiers and am teaching science at Woodward North this year. If I can’t be under water scuba diving or traveling, then you’ll typically find me in the garden or hiking with the dogs. So excited to be at WN - I taught in the Lower School for a few years and loved it there too! Have a wonderful year everyone! 🤗

This is my 21st year teaching. I have taught Pre K, K, 1st, 6th, and 7th grades. I now will be teaching 5th Grade Language Arts at the North campus. I'm very excited to be at Woodward North! I love reading, shopping, and spending time with my family!

Greetings! My name is Joy Kenyon-Mafu. I teach Math (Geometry and Precalculus) in the upper school at Woodward. I started my teaching career in London, England and worked in business before becoming a teacher. One career highlight so far was having the opportunity through Teachers Across Borders in 2018 to go to South Africa and help facilitate teacher professional development work shops with math and science educators there. Meeting these amazing colleagues and seeing all the wonder and delights of Africa would be on my list of all time favorite things! Hello! I am Gabriel Lovatt and I’m excited to join Woodward’s English faculty. I’ve been teaching for twenty years, and for the last decade I was English Department chair and faculty at Athens Academy. Before that, I had spent 10 years teaching at UGA and Georgia Tech, the latter as a postdoctoral faculty member. I made the transition to independent schools after I noticed that many of the colleagues I most admired, both in terms of teaching and scholarly activity, were moving into the independent school world. I count myself lucky to have found a place that allowed me to learn and grow, and I’m thrilled that Woodward is the next step.

Hello! My name is Adriana Danzilo. I was born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. At age 18 I moved to the US to pursue my degree in Communication (Journalism & Media Production.) When I graduated, I started my teaching career by doing a language program in Ibiza, Spain, as an ESL teacher. A year later, I moved to Mallorca, Spain to continue being an ESL teacher. After my two years in Spain I ventured out to Germany, where I was working at a Montessori school as an ESL teacher and also learning German. Coming from Central America I could not handle the cold weather in Germany, prompting me to move back to the US. Atlanta received me with open arms and it's been my home every since (2020-present.) I worked as a Spanish teacher for a Montessori school and as a 2nd grade homeroom teacher. I am excited to be part of Woodward and teach Spanish again!

On my off time you can find me exploring the city, hiking, going on adventures & my most favorite: traveling! I have been to over 30+countries & counting!
