I have taught across school, mainly in Early Years, but this year I have been enjoying teaching Crummock class which is Y3/4 and will be teaching this class next year also.

My favorite place where I live is the beach. I love the freedom of the open space, listening to the waves crash on the shore and the bird tweeting, and watching all the creatures hard at work whilst I'm enjoying my walk. I also like walking around the village as its also a hive of activity with birds etc.

At Winterslow Primary School we put the fantastic learning from Sosna (Slovakia) in place straight away by offering gardening as part of our wellbeing week. Many studies have been made on how gardening can positively influence the physical and mental wellbeing of gardeners. The development of outdoor hobbies and interacting with nature can only enhance our lives and our children loved it! Not only did our children respond really well to the opportunity to get covered in soil many have since accessed the space afterwards as a calm area to sit and reflect.

What an inspiring group of pupils, led brilliantly by Cheryl James, teacher of Science and Maths and our Place Project lead teacher! Having identified places of happiness and sadness in the school grounds the Eco Team pupils decided that a litter pick would be a positive action to take, to not only help wildlife, but also make the school look cleaner and greener! There were 6 pupils and 3 adults picking for only 35 minutes in and around the school entrance and along a nearby road and it was surprising how much rubbish was collected! Single use drink and food packaging, sweet wrappers and cigarette butts were the most numerous!
