In both poems, there is a discussion of death but they both convey different interpretations of death. In poem one this is presented through the quote ‘the dying of the light’ and it is presented in poem two through the use of the quote ‘gone far away into the silent land’.
In poem one, the quote ‘my father, there on the sad height’ reveals to the reader that the speakeris a child, as the personal possessive pronoun ‘father’ presents that the child is talking about their parent. Also, in this stanza, there is an extra line, which could illustrate that there is more emotion in this stanza due to the speaker talking about their own father rather than other men.
However, in poem two, the speaker is someone who may die soon, and they are informing a loved one not to be upset once they pass away. This is presentedthrough the quote ‘and afterwards remember, do not grieve’ this quote reveals tothe reader that the speaker is very selfless and wants their loved one tomove on and be happy after their death. The verb ‘grieve’ portrays the idea that this is a common thing that happens after death, and the speaker does not want their loved one to worry after their death.
In poem one, there is a semantic field of light. This is portrayed through the quotation ‘dying of the light’. The light represents life, and in this poem, the light is said tobe ‘dying’ out. The adjectives ‘sun’, ‘light’, ‘dark’, ‘bright’ and ‘

Both poems explore the different views and attitudes towards death through “Do not go gentle into that good night” and “Remember”. In poem one “Do not go gentle into the good night” the theme of pathos is evident to the audience and is conveyed through the quotation “And you, my father, there on the sad height”. The use of this sebortanat clause successfull y conveys a pause for the audience, therefore slowing the pace down and creating a sense of intense pathos to the audience. The narrative speaker, the child, effectively presents the regularity of loosing a parent and this is addionally emphasised through the regular rhyme sceme of the poem.
Throughout the poem “remember” the writer powerfully evokes the sense that once a person who is closed to you dies the memories slowly fade away and this is evident through the structure of the poem. The word “remember” is repeated several times throughout the poem however eveytime it moves more away from the last “remember” therefore this creates the image to the audience that the memory and the loss is slowly drifting away from the morners mind.

Both poems successfully embody an integral theme of death which is the catalyst to the vulnerability of the relationships. In poem 1 the pivotal theme of vulnerability is evident in the quotation “curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray” because the effective use of the verb ‘pray’ evokes a submissive tone almost insinuating that the speaker has an intense desperation for the saviour of the father. Furthermore, this allows the reader to feel a significant amount of pathos due to the effect of losing a father. Ultimately, we could imply that the loss of the father evokes an idea of all hope being lost. We can further reinforce this idea with the successful use of the endstop; signifying the epiphany of the speaker. Could the speaker have reached the acceptance of the passing of a fundamental part of their life? In poem 2, we can support the idea of vulnerability with the repetitive use of the quotation ‘forget’ because this verb evokes a desperate tone to be remembered. Furthermore, if you forget something, it isn’t memorable. Perhaps this emobodies dramatic irony because death has an everlasting influence on someone’s life- one that can not be erased. Similarly, we can like both of these poems due to the message of death being an inevitable part of life that can not be escaped.

Andrew and Aaron
Both Poems convey the idea of intense pathos this can be seen first in poem 1, ‘ my father, there on the sad height’ through this quotation we can infer that that the intense pathos begins to emerge from the writer within the quote and solidifies the idea of pathotic atmosphere. The abstract noun of sadness inflicts the audience with a sense of sympathy making the audience become increasingly curious about the poets state of mind, and wondering what is driving him to portray the message through this poem.

Faye and lucy
In both poems, “do not go gentle into that good night” and “remember”, they show how death is Presented in different people or relationships. They both have a regular ryhme scheme, but in poem 2 it turns irregular suggesting memories are being forgotten or they are fading. Whereas poem 1 shows the regularity of love or of losing someone. This is emphasised in the extra line at the bottom of the poem where it evokes the sense of her loss becoming somewhat normal and her coming to terms with it.
In “do not go gentle into that good night” it reflects the significance of when people die it has an effect on the people around and the people that cared, this is clearly presented through the semantic field of being fragile. “Frail” “gentle” “good night” “greive” this emphasises the way that a death of someone that was loved can have a negative impact on someone elses life. Furthermore the noun “gentle” suggests that the idea of someone dying may also give off a sense that it is comforting as people are more at rest if they where in pain.

Both poems ‘Do not go gentle into the good night’ and ‘remember’ depict a sense of loss which Evokes a deep sensation of pathos within the reader. This is cleverly developed throughout poem 1. Structurally this poem has a regular rhyme scheme which is symbolic of the ongoing love and the idea that this love transcends death, this sense of transcendence is also reiterated through the noun “rage” which creates a sense of passion within the relationship as the child in the poem is “raging against the dying of the light”.This love and grief is similarly reflected through the abstract noun “light” which is juxtaposed with “dying” creating a sense that hope has died and the death of the family member has created a sombre atmosphere within the child. This use of “rage” is significant as it is the use of repetition. On the other hand The poem ‘remember’ has a rhyme scheme that we could infer is symbolic of a sense of fracture as the regular rhyme scheme has slowly faded into an irregular rhyme scheme which could insuinuate that the writers memories
