I rate this book at 5/5 stars because this book is based during Christmas time and it is supposed to be the happiest time of the year. When they find out the bad news it takes a toll on their happiness and it creates tension between the family. I loved this story and it shows how much community means to you. I also loved this book because it shows you how much a community can impact you. For instance when one of the kids took violin lessons from their teacher it made a positive impact on the area around them instead of a negative impact. I also notice that sometimes you can take advantage of the area around you and not realize that you should be thankful for what you have.

Dear Karina, I loved this book so much. I learned through this book even at the happiest times there can still be negativity and bad things happening, it is just what you do with these bad things. I loved how in the book when they found out they were moving they went to go get a Christmas tree to take their minds off of the bad things. I also loved how the kids were so creative to make the landlord impressed so they could satisfy their parents. I also really enjoyed how you caused tension between the twins and made a drama out of it too. This really showed me to appreciate the community I am in and to circle myself with people who would support me like the neighbors did for the Vanderbeekers. I also really enjoyed how the littlest child, Laney, made friends with the older people a floor above them and how she would hang out with them every day. Thank you for writing this book for me to enjoy.

The author believes in this book that there is going to be bad in life but if you really care about something you should focus on it with all your heart. I found this theme in the book through the children. They were so focused on convincing Mr. Beiderman to renew their lease because they loved their home and community so much. The author also believes you don't realize how much something means to you until you do not have it anymore. I found this theme through in the beginning of the book they did not realize what their home meant to them but when their parents informed them with the news of moving they realized what they were going to have to leave behind. The author also believes that your community means a lot more than you think it does. I found this when the kids made a petition and all the neighbors and friends signed it because they did not want the family to leave because they meant so much to them.
