Water-carrying tubes:

water carrying tubes transport water to all parts of the plant. The water carrying tube gets water from the root hairs (on the root)and it transports it up and down to the whole plant via its tube and the plants stem

Food-carrying tubes:

food carrying tubes transport food from the leaves(after they photosynthesise) down to the rest of the plant via the food carrying tube and the stem.

Different parts of the plant:

Stem
-holds the plant upright so that the leaves can get enough sunlight to make food 
-it also helps to transport food and water all around the plant
Leaves
-they photosynthesise to make food for the plant
-the stomata under the leaves also help in gaseous exchange 
Roots.
-they absorb water and mineral salts from the soil for the plant

 As the sun shone bright, old gardener Uncle Lum wanted to observe the 'plant' shown above.
He wondered how did his watered water travel all the way to the leaves and flowers. Ol' Uncle Lum observed some blue and red tubes as displayed on top of the 'plant'. He saw the structure of the stem and concluded that he had to show the 'plant' to Dr Rai, a very brilliant scientist and geologist.

Dr Rai was lonely in his lab, wishing for someone to visit him. All of a sudden, he heard his laboratory door open and looked at the small frail head peeping out of the ajar door.
Oh! It was his buddy Uncle Lum!
Uncle Lum brought him a 'plant'. Dr Rai was about to get the opposite of lonely.

Ol' Uncle Lum Listened to Dr Rai as he explained each part of the plant and how it worked. He even answered his awaited question. Uncle Lum took down some notes as shown below:

       MY NOTES: help from Dr Rai
      My q; how did my watered water travel all the way to the leaves and flowers?
      My ans. There are two types of tubes in a plant,  xylem and phloem. The xylem carries all my watered water and the minerals from the soil all the way to the leaves and flowers of the 'plant'.  After the leaves make food, the food travels to all parts of the plant through the phloem.

Dr Rai was happy to help Uncle Lum. His buddy left, thanking him and smiling widely.
