On our first day of our trip we visited the beautiful Crater Lake. Crater Lake can be found in Oregon and it is a lake that was formed when a violent eruption triggered the a towering volcano to collapse inward to cause a "crater". Over time with rain and snow, water filled the crater to form a lake. Scientists marvel at its purity, which is fed by rain and snow. It’s the deepest lake in the USA and perhaps the most pristine on earth. Teddy Roosevelt worked with his legislative branch to establish Crater Lake in 1902.

After a successful day of fishing and sight seeing at Crater Lake, we headed back to the hotel so we could go somewhere else the next day. However, on the way back we got a surprise visit from a deer by the river! This deer reminded us that Roosevelt was a sportsman-hunter all his life. He sought a chance to hunt the big game of North America before they disappeared. When the Buffalo started to become extinct Roosevelt realized that it was essential to protect the natural resources of the US and the animals contained within it. He loved hunting, but he knew that in order to protect and preserve animals and nature, he needed to make reserves and parks.

Just by chance when headed to the Grand Canyon we came across Teddy Roosevelt. Oh what a hero he is to all of us outdoor adventurers and wildlife enthusiasts. Everybody in the USA should thank this man for creating the USFS (United States Forest Service) to protect wildlife and public land. I mean think about this info right here! This man Established 150 national forests, 51 federal bird reserves, and even 5 national parks. His work helped protect 230 million acres of public land. He did all of this so that it could be preserved for future generations to enjoy. What a great man!

On our second day we visited one of Teddy Roosevelt's National Monuments, Devil's Tower. This is located in Wyoming. He declared this a national monument in 1906. It is an enormous geological feature that extends out of the rolling prairie surrounding the Black Hills. This site is considered Sacred to the Lakota and many other tribes that have a connection to the area. Devil's Tower has hundreds of parallel cracks that make it one of the finest traditional crack climbing areas in North America! I even experienced it for myself!

On our third day we visited the amazing Yosemite National park. This national park is located in California and includes the iconic Bridalveil water fall. Contained within this valley is a vast array of cliffs, forests, wildlife, and beautiful scenery. It was first protected in 1894 and with help from Teddy Roosevelt and the legislative branch it was declared a national park. Along with this he added additional land to the national park

On our fourth day we visited the breath taking grand canyon. Located in Arizona this 277 miles long by 18 miles wide canyon is impossible to visualize. This amazing formation of earth was created by flowing rivers over millions of year and there is truly nothing that can compare to it. This national park was established in 1919 and was turned into a national park with the help of Teddy Roosevelt. How beautiful! :')
