The Million Dollar Duck Race was a race organised by The Straits Times. Participants had to buy the ducks from a booth. There was a choice of yellow ducks and red ducks, red being more expensive. They then gathered around the river to see who's duck would reach the finish point first. The winner would then be given $10,000 if the duck was yellow, and $1 000 000 if the duck was red.
