         <description><![CDATA[<p>Birthdate: 1901- August 10, 1987</p><p>Background: He got a doctorate in lighting technology and co-founded Rectron company, he worked on the gas-glowed cathode rectifier. He was an independent inventor during the 1930s for Osram and Phillips causing the invention of fluorescent lamps and Mercury Vapor Lamp.</p><p>Major Achievements: Created the first fluorescent lamp, He received the Frank P. Brown Medal from the Franklin Institution. Between 1926 and 1955, he received over 100 patents.</p><p><br/></p><p>Invention: The fluorescent lamp</p><p>How it works: Fluorescent lamps use an electric current to create ultraviolet (UV) light, which is then converted to visible light.</p><p>Why it matters: This invention has revolutionized the way you can see things.&nbsp;<br></p><p>Multiple patents have been issued for fluorescent lamps, including US patent 889,692, US patent 865,367, and US patent 4163176 </p><p><br>Edmund Germer probably succeeded because of perspiration more than inspiration. He co founded the Rectron company and after resigning became an independent inventor in the 1930s.<br><br></p>]]></description>

She became known as "Lady Edison" because she has invented multiple devices that made daily life easier. She was the most prolific woman inventor of the 1920s. </p><p>         One of the inventions she made was the protograph. A type of graphical device that produced an original and four typewritten copies without carbon paper.              She was self educated which helped her come up with these crazy ideas. She had a picture in her mind of the finished product before she began the difficult process of making it.  </p><p>          Her invention was made based on 60 percent inspiration, and 40 percent perspiration. She died February 1st, 1973</p>]]></description>

While singing in his church choir, he grew frustrated that the paper bookmarks he used would always fall out of his hymnal.</p></li><li><p>The back of the Post-It Note is a layer of microspecies that was created by his co-worker, Spencer Silver.</p></li><li><p>In 1977, the removable notes were released in four cities under the name "Press 'n Peel".</p><p>What Mattered More? Inspiration or Perspiration?</p></li><li><p>I think that Perspiration mattered more with Arthur L. Fry's invention of the Post-It Note.  They had to figure out the right equipment to make the notes.
