It affirms my belief that a lot of people will judge another person over their race and treat them differently because of it. But just because a person looks different than you, doesn't mean they need to be treated differently than you would anyone else.

My connection to this piece when i was a little girl me and my older cousins used to all wear necklaces from our home towns and birth places, this was our tradition and also something special to us because it was a object that signified our culture and was our unique tradition.

When the speaker was talking about the time she worked at a school and a kid came up to her and thought the woman next to her was her translator.
