I chose this painting because it generates a lot of questions in my head, and creates many possible ideas of the meaning of this painting, also I like the way it's painted with watercolor.

I think that this represents how life is to short and how is like a roller coaster. Durng war you had a big chance to die so i think also is that.

This painting is very similar to the other paintings the artist has, were he just paints the same clown with different color caps and different facial expressions, which can represent how he felt and the emotions that he was going through. He was just trying to show the different emotions and feelings that someone can have and how are they expressed through the same character.

This artwork is classified as abstract and tries to convey a strong message through the combination of several impacting colors and shapes. It tries to impact the viewer first of all with the number 8, which Marsden Hartley revealed that it represented the mystical embodiment of “eight” in many religions, since it is a number associated with transcendence from the material to the spiritual. It is believed that he wanted to convey military insignias through the shapes as a way to involve pre World War 1. As a vibrant and colorful painting, meaning may be different for everyone since different interpretations may come from an abstract and expressionist painting. 

Why I chose it? How does it make me feel and what did I like or dislike about it?

I decided to choose this painting because it stands out from the rest of the expressionist artworks. The colors, shapes, patterns and vibrance made me feel intrigued, confused and called my attention as opposed to other paintings. I definitely liked the way he uses color and shapes to transmit or try to do a mystical or spiritual thing that can be related to many cultures or religions since it is a way of involving many people's beliefs. I didn't like the feeling of confusion and unclear message related to the first world war since I believe it could be specific or clear.

The artwork has a cubist and sort of abstract style. It is composed by women, landscapes, music and instruments. I believe Marie was trying to transmit serenity and peace through the warm and light tones and shades, especially in a period in which people needed some tranquility in their life. I also think it is connected or related to the first WW because of how it conveys hope. 

Why did I choose it? How does it make me feel and what did I like or dislike about it?

I chose this artwork because I believe it makes me feel hope and tranquility through a palette of comfort tones. I also chose it because there were only a few women cubist painters and Marie was one of them.  Finally, I really liked the intention and detail given to all the elements that are creating an elegant environment in the ball, which is accompanied by instruments and landscapes.

The painting depicts a dematerialized soccer player, in which an athlete's calf is seen in the center of the painting, and portions of other body parts can be seen around it. It uses amazing colors and vibrant hues that give a sense of light coming out from it. It has a cubist and abstract style. I believe trying to transmit energy, dynamic and vibrance during the 1WW was also part of the artwork. 

Why I chose it? How does it make me feel and what did I like or dislike about it?

I chose this painting because it has a lot of movement and color and this makes me feel happy and energized. What I really like about this artwork is that it is open to numerous interpretations making it possible to identify or feel related to the painting. On the other hand, I don't like that it is almost impossible to identify the football player.

This painting represents futurism and technology advancements. He probably wanted to show and express how society and inventions were improving and society was growing. Specially at this time on the industrial revolution were factories and businesses were growing and evolving. This painting is attractive because it has a realistic perspective and design. The painting looks really good and has a very well represented point of view and design.

I think Marie was attempting to convey serenity and calm with the warm and light tones and colors, particularly at a time when people wanted some peace and quiet in their lives. I often believe it is linked to or similar to the First World War because of the way it conveys optimism.
I selected this piece of art because I believe it conveys optimism and tranquillity through a palette of soothing tones. I often picked it because Marie was one of only a few female cubist painters. Finally, I appreciated the thought and detail put into all of the elements that contribute to the ball's elegant setting, which is followed by instruments and landscapes.
