Modify the original plan whether 1 person or too many, but have a plan.
- Not disorganized or overwhelmed then.
- Shows you know what is going on and aren't just making things up on the spot, students have more confidence in you.

Be prepared for different amounts of students (depending on time in the semester)

Think about where you are in the semester when planning your sessions
Have an unofficial plan for smaller or larger numbers of students
If you change your session because of numbers, write it in your reflection
Know how to modify certain CLT's for smaller or larger groups (TPS, Clusters, D&C, etc.)

· Gives students a chance to adjust their answer if they are unsure or incorrect

· Gives other students a chance to add missing info or fix errors

· Promotes peer discussions, rather than one-on-one conversations with the leader and student

I just wanted to say thank you to michael for being an incredible support and encouragement over these last two years. You've always made SLG feel like continuous growth and the lows an opportunity to improve instead of decline.

I also want to thank you Navneet for always suggesting great ideas on how to improve my sessions, and being very supportive as well. I've really only gotten to get to know you over this past year since being hired, but I'm glad I've had the opportunity :)

I thoroughly enjoyed supporting MATH 112, and Ben has been exceptionally supportive of SLG. He is committed to the program and provides weekly feedback on the worksheets. I would be grateful if everyone could extend this level of support to every leader.

From the outset, I have been eager to support MATH, and I am deeply appreciative of Navneet’s efforts in making this a reality.

Thank you Michael for giving me tips on overcoming the barriers to cater the students of different learning styles.

I learn from every returning leader I talk to, and I am grateful for that. Especially, Phoebe, Oscar, Misha, and Megan. Whenever I have a challenge in my sessions, I can talk to them about it and they always have some tips to overcome obstacles. SLG thrives because of the support we provide each other.

I loved working at SLG and I'm thankful that I got to meet all of the awesome leaders. I am especially proud to have worked with the other mentors; you all are great examples for your peers and I've enjoyed our discussions. I learned a lot from you guys.

Harman's Tip - Time Management during Sessions

1. Make sure you have appropriate times written out for your activities, actually take some time to think about how long the activities may take for students

2. Ensure your agenda also includes times for activities to give students an idea of how long they should be working for

3. Use a timer if necessary. If you are finding it difficult to keep track of time, use a timer to help you out. Get students to wrap up there last few comments or questions and transition into the next activity. Come back to some of the questions if needed (importance of the Parking Lot - it’s not just for the beginning but also to be used throughout the session).

Thank you for the community that SLG has given me at UFV. This program gave me the opportunity to help students in a course I enjoyed, but it gave so much back to me. UFV is a commuter school so you don't always see the same people - but in SLG you do. SLG has made my last few years at UFV that much better, so thank you for the program, my fellow leaders, the mentors and supervisors. I appreciated you all!

I just want to say thanks to the department staff for giving me the opportunity when I first applied. I have had a great time being an SLG leader and learning about communication, education, and even more about my own field because of the lectures I have had to re-attend for SLG. I of course also appreciate all the support and help from everyone in the program too. It's been great talking with you all and I wish you the best in the future.

I wanted to thank you all for such a great year. I had so much fun during our training and in-service sessions and I want to take some time to appreciate each and every one of you for making me feel that way. You all have been an integral part of my journey through undergrad and I am so happy that I can say just how much I am going to miss this place. To Navneet and Michael, thank you so much for some of the best 3 years of my life. SLG has allowed me to create some of my most favourite memories and I am so glad that I was able to be a part of something so great. Thank you!

Before I was an SLG leader, UFV never really felt like my home school but when I got to meet all these lovely leaders and Navneet and Micheal, suddenly I felt at home. I found it really difficult to connect with people in my first years as a student and SLG has been the thing that changed that. I started with co-workers and am leaving with friends :)
