Symposia matchmaking at IAPS 2026 by IAPS 2026 at University of Surrey

We have set up this Padlet to support people - especially ECRs, those new to IAPS, and/or those from the Global South - in joining proposals for symposia. We encourage also existing members of the IAPS community to use this to enhance the inclusivity of symposia they might be planning. Start a post if you're looking for a symposium to join, or want to find other presenters!

I would be interested in joining a symposium on polarization. I plan to submit an abstract for a mixed methods (representative survey + about 30 follow-up interviews) paper focusing on affective polarization in climate policy support. It could also fit in the themes of climate policy opinions, argumentation, discourses, climate discussions... The paper will be written together with a rhetorics scholar.

Hi everyone!

I’m really interested in putting together (or joining) a symposium at IAPS 2026 around the psychology of nuclear risk and policy. My own work has been looking at the Fukushima decommissioning process – especially topics like risk perception, procedural fairness, zero-sum thinking, and social stigmatization.

Some directions I’d be keen to discuss include:

How communities perceive and negotiate radiation-related risks

Trust, fairness, and legitimacy in nuclear policy decisions

The social and psychological dynamics of stigmatization and exclusion

Comparative/global perspectives on nuclear energy and risk governance

I’d love to connect with others interested in these issues, whether from psychology, policy, or practice. It would be great to co-develop a symposium that brings together diverse perspectives.

If this resonates with your work, feel free to reach out – I’d be excited to collaborate!
