Main Uses

We use will for:

• Predictions: It will rain tomorrow.

• Spontaneous decisions: I will help you with that.

• Promises or offers: I will call you later.

• Opinions about the future: I think she will pass the exam.

2. Sentence Structure

Affirmative

Subject + will + base verb + complement

Example: She will travel to London next week.

Negative

Subject + will not (won’t) + base verb + complement

Example: They will not (won’t) eat meat.

Interrogative

Will + subject + base verb + complement + ?

Example: Will you visit your parents this weekend?

• Plans or intentions decided before speaking:
  I’m going to start a new job next month.

• Predictions based on present evidence:
  Look at those clouds — it’s going to rain.

2. Sentence Structure

Remember that be changes according to the subject: am / is / are.

Affirmative

Subject + am/is/are + going to + base verb + complement

Example: She is going to study medicine.

Negative

Subject + am/is/are + not + going to + base verb + complement

Example: We are not going to watch that movie.

Interrogative

Am/Is/Are + subject + going to + base verb + complement + ?

Example: Are you going to visit your grandparents?
