Good day! I am Ijed Luzele J. Yañez, 20 years of age and currently a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems student at Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao. As simple as I look, I actually keep track on the current trends young people like me are into nowadays. Here are a few of my favorite current Philippine Popular Culture moments:

TikTok Trends
Since its emergence in 2020, I am also one of those people who engage and interact with different dance challenges may it be easy or difficult. As a dancer myself, this kind of activity helped me with my boredom as well as a way to destress from all the school works.
Fandom Culture
I am a part of different fandoms across different fields. Music, movies, series, books, etc., I belong to a specific fandoms. What piqued my interest when it comes to fandom culture is I get to interact with people with the same interests and I can talk to them comfortably with our favorites since they completely understand what I'm talking about.
Food Trends
What I see most of the time in my TikTok page are different coffee shop recommendations across Davao City. As a coffee lover, I would love to travel around the city and discover various coffee flavors and to spend time with myself.
Makeup Trends
11.11? Payday sale? I'm prepared to place order with those mind-blowing discounts! My most recent interest is cosmetics since I wanted to focus more on how I present myself in public and feel beautiful.
Gaming
Mobile and computer games are my way to escape a reality for a while which is why I engage with different types of games that tests my critical thinking and tactical skills, speed, and mind.

Part B: A Deep Dive into the World of Dedicated Fans

In the Philippines, fandom culture is an important aspect in our modern pop culture as it is lively and bring people together. Different events held by different fandoms brought people together to hang out and have fun, which makes Filipinos enjoy the fandom culture across different fields. Filipino fans are recognized by the enthusiasm and commitment to their favorites. My favorite parts on why I engage in fandom activities is to meet people with same interests and just casually talking about our favorites. Other than that, the merchandise that co-fans create are masterpieces and I love collecting them as memorabilia. We all actively participate in it in various interests such as music, entertainment, sports, literature, games and other interests that would allow us to connect to one person and another.

Part C: An analysis on Fandom Culture

Filipino fans are considered a powerful and dynamic force. With the Uses and Gratifications Theory, this shows that fans chooses to interact with their specific fandoms that satisfies their personal wants and needs. There are different types of fandoms across different fields such as music, entertainment, literature, sports, games, etc. Any field that can gain interest from people may possibly have a fandom. The active participation among fans does not only influence their own actions and decisions, but also mold their views on the a wider cultural scene. As a fan, I did not only learn more about my favorites, but also the life of co-fans from different countries, different cultures that I should respect when interacting, etc. This way, the theory serves as a guide to help us understand more of the fandom culture and its influence around the globe.

We can also use the Agenda Setting theory to analyze the impact of Philippine fandom culture and their reach to the media. Since fans are a collective group of people, they can also have the capability to shape public discussions. They can open and call out issues and concerns and can grab the attention of media and the society. Another is that they can speak up on cultural and political movements such as the issues going around in Gaza nowadays. A lot of fandoms may it be from different fields are promoting the concerns that lies in these issues to contribute and to drive change.
