His Fauvist work reflects his feeling that the subject had been neglected in Impressionism, and it continued to be important to him.<br>5. 1) Henri grew up in Northern France.<br>    2) Henri's art career started when he came down with appendicitis and his mom got him paint to occupy his time. <br>    3) Matisse painted his first masterpiece in 1897.<br>    4) In the early 1900's Matisse developed a new style called fauvism. <br>    5) In his later years, Matisse began to experiment with cutouts.<br><br></div>]]></description>
