In the Article “Anne Frank | History & Legacy” it talks about Anne Frank and her family having to escape from Hitler and his followers who were prejudice against all Jews. Anne and her family went into hiding for 3 years and weren’t able to leave they also had a extreme schedule that made them remain as quiet as possible so they weren’t found by the workers downstairs. It was hard to survive living in such a small place with many people to survive. Also in “Life Of Pi” It was extremely hard for Pi to survive because he was on a boat with a bengal tiger for about 200 days and barely had anything to eat or drink . In “The Story Of Keesh” he had to hunt food for his mother and himself because the people hunting barely gave them food to eat because they were lower class. Leah took a risk and hunted for his own food for him and his mother to survive even if ohhhh he took down a mother bear at the age of 13. An example that shows this message is Frederick Douglass, he started out as a slave, but instead of accepting slavery he escaped and fought for what he knew was right by becoming an abolitionist and a human's rights activist, this shows that instead of accepting the mediocre standards Frederick was expected to comply with, he arrived to reach the top and become free and able to fight for what he believed in. Another example of somebody striving on to overcome difficult situations is "The Life of Pi", according to "The Life of Pi", Pi whom was dying of thirst pushed aside all thoughts of Richard Parker, he went and searched for water. This shows that even though Pi was in a difficult situation he still persevered.

This is shown in texts such as, "Life of Pi". In this story, the main character Pi is stranded on a boat with a tiger, but despite these conditions he survives by planning out his next move. In the text Pi is able to come up with a way using a tarpaulin hook, to open a can of water. If Pi had not used the hook, he would've not been able to drink water and died early on. Later in the text, Pi decides that in order to survive on the boat with the tiger (Richard Parker), he must tame him. Pi uses objects around him such a whistle to try and tame Richard Parker. In the movie, "The Life of Pi", it is shown that Pi's plan worked an Richard Parker had been tamed, which made surviving a whole lot easier.  In, "The Story Of Keesh", Keesh survives by making a plan to kill bears, so that he would be able to feed his family and everyone in the village. Keesh used a technique with rocks, the bear would eat the rocks, making them nauseous and weak. Then easily Keesh would strike and kill the bears.
