After Bill O'Reilly and Roger Ailes resigned amid sexual harassment allegations the spotlight has been on Fox News. Bill O'Reilly believes that "If somebody is paying you a wage, you owe that person or company allegiance". But what is someone is being violated in the workplace? So far, throughout these scandals Fox News has paid these women a sizable amount to keep quiet. When asked what women should do when harassed Bill O' Reilly said, "You don't like what's happening in the workplace, go to human resources or leave".

1.

1) A black, unarmed man named Terence Crutcher was shot by officer Betty Shelby, who was found not guilty of first degree manslaughter. She claimed that she believed Crutcher to be drugged with PCP, a hallucinogenic drug, and she feared for her life. All he did was calmly walk back to his car with his hands up, despite all the police (more than 3) pointing guns at him. PCP was later found in the car and an autopsy report found that he did indeed have the drug in his system, but his family believed that stating this face took away from the fact that he was shot unarmed. He was, according to family and friends, a generous, kind, God loving guy, and his shooting was unjustified. around 100 protesters protested outside the courthouse where Shelby's innocence was decreed, and many more protested outside the Maya Hotel, where Shelby is rumored to stay

2)I read a book called, "The Hate You Give" about unarmed black shootings and I became interested in the topic ever since

3) Racial prejudice from history: There are so many shootings of unarmed black people because of racial disagreement and simply racism.

1)It is very hard to impeach the president because the president has to commit a “high crime or misdemeanor”. That phrase is very unclear and people interpret different ways. To vet the president to have a trail ⅔ of the senate has to agree to impeach the president and majority of the senate is Republican.

2) I chose this because everyone is talking about if Trump can be impeached for what he told the Russians and what he did to Comey.

The main part of this article is to shed light on what is happening in the white house. Because there are always so many reporters at the white house, all the different stories can get altered and changed. CNN wanted to give one cohesive view of what’s really happening since Trump fired Comey. I chose this article because I don’t follow politics very closely and I wanted to get more information. This article relates to what we were talking about in class with impeachment because a lot of democrats are claiming that what Trump has been doing, regarding the FBI and Russia, could be grounds for impeachment. We talked a lot in class about presidents who were impeached and what they did to be impeached, so it’s interesting to witness potential grounds for impeachment in our lifetime. This is a credible source because CNN is a very reputable/famous source who has been publishing stories for many years that have been proven true.

“Inside an Embattled Trump’s Most Consequential Evening of Turmoil yet.” CNN Politics, www.cnn.com/2017/05/17/politics/trump-mueller-white-house-turmoil/index.html.

Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit organization that not only provides abortions, it provides pap smears, STD tests, cancer screenings, and birth control.

This article is about the speech Mr. Trump gave to the coast guard cadets. In his speech he talked about how poorly he has been treated regarding the media. “No politician is history, and I say this with great certainty, has been treated worse or more unfairly.” was the way Mr. Trump continued his speech. He started to talk about how you should never let people get you down but then would not stop talking about himself. I chose this article because the self centeredness has been very prominent within our new president. Frankly, the things he says makes me laugh. This is not what I want the US to be know by.

300,000 child refugees are travelling alone the highest number in record. That amount has nearly quintupled the record of the number of child refugees travelling alone. Many of those children are in danger from smugglers, sex traffickers and other predators. That number could also be more because that number is only from registered immigrants.

I thought it was interesting that people around our age are travelling through dangerous situations alone to find a better life.

This article connects to what we learned this year about immigrants coming to the US in hope of finding a better life. These children are leaving their family and home because they think that they can find a better life in Europe or the US.

I found this article from a major new source the New York Times.

Gladstone, Rick. "300,000 Child Refugees and Migrants Traveled Alone in ’15 and ’16, U.N. Says." New York Times, 17 May 2017, www.nytimes.com/2017/05/17/ world/americas/ united-nations-children-refugees-migrants-trafficking.html?rref=collection%2Fsect ioncollection%2Fafrica.

Main Point:

How the most recent Wonder Woman movie has been endorsed by ThinkThin; a diet bar. Many Wonder Woman fans are outraged by the endorsement saying that the ThinkThin brand is going against everything Wonder Woman stands for.

Why I Chose This:

When I first saw this article 3 days ago (May 15) I didn’t understand why everyone cared so much about what Wonder Woman ate. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had been endorsed by Doritos so why couldn’t Wonder Woman be endorsed by ThinkThin?

Connection(s) to Other Topics Discussed in Class:

In class we’ve discussed a lot about feminism and this article talks about how Wonder Woman is going against feminism by willing to be endorsed by ThinkThin.

Why is This Source Credible:

I don’t really know if it is but when I saw this article it sparked my interest.

MLA Citation:

Kelly Lawler - USA TODAY

https://www.usatoday.com/staff/19831/kelly-lawler
