"Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb-nail. In the midst of this chopping sea of civilized life, such are the clouds and storms and quicksands and thousand-and-one items to be allowed for, that a man has to live, if he would not founder and go to the bottom and not make his port at all, by dead reckoning, and he must be a great calculator indeed who succeeds. Simplify, simplify." - Henry David Thoreau

This image embodies the elements of Thoreau's saying above because it shows an individual trying to simplify their life as much as possible and not having several complications and/or conflicts to deal with, which is what Thoreau encourages society to follow.

"Neither does the wisest man extort her secret, and lose his curiosity by finding out all her perfection. Nature never became a toy to a wise spirit. The flowers, the animals, the mountains, reflected the wisdom of his best hour, as much as they had delighted the simplicity of his childhood...Yet it is certain that the power to produce this delight, does not reside in nature, but in man, or in a harmony of both. It is necessary to use these pleasures with great temperance."

                   -Ralph Waldo Emerson

The image above connects to the excerpt because it provides a visual of what Emerson desires for people to do after reading his work; he believes that someone connecting with nature can help benefit someone, which is similar in how the quote argues that nature can severely create a sense of "delight" and/or pleasure that can positively impact someone.

It loves not realities and creators, but names and customs." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

The excerpt above relates to the transcendentalist concepts of self-reliance and an importance of the individual because it asserts that when people aren't independent and constantly being bombarded with ideas that they don't agree with, it can cause someone to be limited from what they wish to say (which is a major part of what self-reliance is all about).

My verse in life is to help people. I have always dreamed of becoming something related to the medical field, but the catalyst of this desire is from my own personal experience with requiring medical attention. From when I was 2 years old up until around 6 or 7, I had chronic issues with obtaining ear infections causing me to feel immense pain throughout the day and especially when trying to sleep at night. Fortunately, all of these issues were resolved with the help of several doctors, specialists, and otologists that gave me the procedures and medication that were needed. From then on, I knew I wanted to help people; I feel the need to give my aid to them as they did with me years ago.
